About me.
Half-dutch, half-english, I’ve been lucky enough to live in many cities but am currently based in London as a freelance artist.
I developed a love for painting at a young age and pursued this enthusiastically at school. It’s the act of painting itself that inspires me, along with the ability to capture a moment in time. You’ll see as you browse though my work that there’s a focus on people and places, on capturing memories.
My other artistic love is for satirical pieces. I began to explore satire in my final year of school, through developing a piece mocking Nigel Farage and David Cameron in relation to the 2015 election. After this, I continued to make funny cartoon drawings as I read the news.
The Covid lockdowns gave me the opportunity to revive my love for satire. In 2020, I painted ‘The Pretenders’, which went on to win the King House Gallery 2020 Art Competition. In creating satirical pieces I aim to make viewers laugh through the use of bright colours and obvious mockery. However, I also want viewers to think, as behind these light-hearted paintings lies a deeper message.
I specialise in oil paintings, watercolour and ink drawings, and would love to work with you to create a bespoke piece. Please reach out to me for commissions. No idea too bold.
